HS-4000
The HS-4000 is a 4-channel compact-flash recorder/player built for broadcast use, with flash-start playback, timecode and video/word sync. It suits broadcasters needing reliable playout and recording in a 2U rack unit. The model has been discontinued.

The HS-4000 records and plays back up to four channels at up to 24-bit/96 kHz on CF cards, using dual card slots. Files are BWF or WAV. Five operation modes cover different jobs: timeline (tape-style recording and playback), take, single playlist, dual playlist (two independent stereo tracks) and on-air. Confidence monitoring during a two-track recording is available at 44.1/48 kHz.
For broadcast playout it offers flash starting, auto cue, auto ready and incremental play. Flash starts can be triggered from RC-HS32PD or RC-SS20 remotes (sold separately), by parallel control or from a keyboard. Timeline mode can import and export AES31 editing information, and playlists support PPL. Operation is through a TFT colour touch screen, with jog and shuttle functions. Later firmware added take copy, settings backup and presets, ADL file import and P2 Vari Pitch support.
Connections include four balanced XLR analog inputs and outputs, two stereo AES/EBU XLR pairs in and out, XLR monitor outputs, a headphone jack, XLR timecode in/out, and BNC word clock and video reference. Control is by parallel, RS-232C, RS-422 or Gigabit Ethernet (FTP, telnet, VNC). It mounts in 2U of rack space.
