The DR-V1HD combines a 1/4-inch CMOS camera with a pair of built-in cardioid electret condenser microphones. In video mode it records MOV files (MPEG-4 SP) at 640 x 480 or 1280 x 720, 30fps, with 16- or 24-bit WAV audio at 44.1 or 48kHz. In audio mode it records stereo WAV at 44.1, 48 or 96kHz, 16- or 24-bit. Still pictures can be saved as JPEG.
A 3.5mm stereo mini jack serves as mic or line input, selectable by a switch, with three gain steps for the mic setting and plug-in power support. A second 3.5mm jack carries phones and line output. A 2.4-inch colour TFT LCD with a 240 x 320 resolution is used for framing and playback, and there is a 0.6W monaural speaker. The unit also has a 1/4-inch tripod thread and a 1.0x to 4.0x digital zoom.
For connections, a Mini-B USB port works as a USB 2.0 High Speed mass storage device, and a mini HDMI (Type C) output is provided. Power comes from three AA batteries or the optional TASCAM PS-P520 AC adaptor. The model has been discontinued.
