The VT-3 changes a voice live with dedicated sliders for pitch and formant, plus sliders for reverb and wet/dry mix balance. A character knob selects the voice type: direct, two auto-pitch modes, vocoder, synth, lead, bass, megaphone, radio and scatter. A Robot button adds a synthetic tone, and a Bypass button switches the effect out instantly.
Version 1.1 of the system software raises user memory to six locations and adds backup and restore over USB. It also adds a low cut filter, a noise gate, a USB attenuator and character level matching. MIDI over USB lets an external keyboard control the pitch of the voice characters, including the vocoder, and program change and control change messages are supported.
A combo XLR/TRS input with phantom power sits on the rear, with a mini-jack mic input with plug-in power on the front. The stereo outputs can be set up as separate mono wet and dry channels. The built-in USB audio interface supports loopback recording for overdubbing. The unit runs from USB bus power or the supplied AC adapter, and an optional footswitch can be connected.
