The Studio Vintage Head is a 20W valve guitar amp head from Marshall's Studio range, model SV20H. It reproduces the character of the 1959 Super Lead in a smaller, lighter chassis than the 100W version. Two channels, Normal and High Treble, can be used on their own or blended with a patch cable. The EQ section follows the 1959 layout, with treble, middle, bass and presence controls.
The power stage uses two EL34 valves, and the preamp uses ECC83 valves, including one as the phase splitter. A switch lowers the output from 20W to 5W, which makes it easier to use at lower volumes in a bedroom or rehearsal space. A series, switchable effects loop allows outboard effects to be placed after the preamp.
Four 1/4" instrument inputs cover high and low sensitivity. Five 1/4" speaker outputs support 16Ω, 8Ω and 4Ω loads, and a 1/4" jack DI output is provided. The amp is built in Marshall's factory in Bletchley, England, and ships with a detachable power cable and a speaker cable.
