The Nano Q-Tron is an analog envelope filter. The level of the incoming signal sets the cutoff or centre frequency of a swept filter, so the effect follows how hard and how softly the instrument is played. Results range from subtle movement to auto-wah and funk sounds, on guitar, bass, keys, horns and other sources.
Four controls shape the sound. Volume sets the output level, Drive sets envelope sensitivity and how far the filter sweeps (up to about 3.5 kHz), and Q sets the filter bandwidth and how pronounced the peak is. A three-position switch selects low pass, band pass or high pass. The pedal uses true bypass switching, and a status LED lights when the effect is engaged.
It has a mono input jack and an amp output jack. Power comes from an included 9V battery, or from an optional 9V DC centre-negative supply, which is not included. The pedal draws 10 mA, and the supply should not exceed 12V DC.
