KSM353

The KSM353/ED is a figure-of-eight ribbon microphone with symmetrical pickup and strong rejection from the sides. Its ribbon is made of Roswellite, a proprietary material that replaces conventional foil and is described as tough, high in tensile strength and able to return to shape, so it copes with extreme sound pressure levels.

A custom ribbon motor assembly shapes the bass response without reducing overall output, giving full lows and mids and a rising response toward the upper range. A double-shielded, matched full-size transformer is mounted at 90 degrees, offset from the ribbon, to limit magnetic and RF interference and preserve output. The microphone handles 146 dB SPL across a 30 Hz to 15 kHz response, which suits fast transients from vocals, acoustic instruments and concert halls.

Construction is hand-assembled from machined steel, silver, gold and aluminum inside a stainless steel casing. It ships with a ShureLock wire rope shock mount, a zippered carrying case, a polishing cloth and a velveteen pouch.
