The Beta 87C is a cardioid condenser vocal microphone designed for stage use. Its response is smooth and wide, with a slight lift in the presence range, and it covers 50 to 20,000 Hz. A low-frequency roll-off is built in to offset the bass boost that comes from working close to the capsule.
The cardioid pattern is described as uniform, which gives strong isolation and rejection from the rear of the microphone, and keeps tonal coloration low for sound arriving off-axis. That rear rejection is useful for singers on personal monitor systems such as Shure PSM, where ambient sound from behind the mic needs to stay out of the signal. A three-stage pop filter reduces breath pop and noise.
The microphone ships with an A25D swivel adapter, a break-resistant stand adapter, and a 26B21 carrying and storage bag. Optional accessories listed for it include the A85WS windscreen, the RK312 replacement grille and the A55M shock mount microphone clip.
