KROME EX is a refreshed version of the KROME workstation, with new programs and PCM data aimed at current production styles. The library holds 896 programs and 512 preload combinations, with new grand and upright piano sounds, three electric pianos sampled at eight velocity levels with modelled amps and effects, and more than 2,500 drum samples across 48 preload kits.
The workstation side includes a 16-track sequencer with Auto Song Setup, template songs, a Cue List, RPPR pattern recording and piano-roll editing. Two polyphonic arpeggiators can run at once in Combination or Sequencer mode. A Drum Track function plays back more than 600 preset patterns inherited from KRONOS, with space for user patterns. The 800 x 480 TouchView display supports touch and finger-drag editing, and includes a stopwatch and calculator keypad.
The 61- and 73-key models have a semi-weighted keyboard, while the 88-key model uses NH (Natural Weighted Hammer Action). Computers connect by USB for MIDI data transfer, and an SD card (sold separately) manages data files. A software bundle is included, covering iOS apps and Mac/Windows software.
